How do I apply?
About Youth Training
- Who is this programme for?
- Youth Training is a programme for young people who have left school and want to get more skills and qualifications for work.
- Am I eligible?
- Entry criteria to this course are set by the Tertiary Education Commission. The course is open to youth learners aged between 16 - 18 years, who have left school with low literacy and numeracy skills.

- How much does it cost?
- Youth Training is free if you meet the above criteria. If your family receives Family Support they will continue to get it while you are enrolled. You may also be in line for a travel allowance to help you get to your training course.
- Is this programme available in my area?
- Be Motorvated is available in our Wellington branch.
- What is the start date?
- This course starts on 17 January 2011. However, you can start after this on any Monday of the year if there are places available and you are eligible.

About Be Motorvated
The National Certificate gained on this course gives students foundation skills to go on to further training, apprenticeship or employment in a variety of motor trades. It is overseen by the Motor Industry Trade Organisation (MITO).
On this course you will
- Work towards the National Certificate in Motor Industry (L1) and gain credits towards the level 2 certificate.
- Learn to use hand tools and power tools, do workshop projects and learn the trade theory that will count towards an apprenticeship later.
- Do work experience that will show you what it is like to be in a real job, and give you a chance to show employers your skills. (You have to be assessed as work ready first)
- Get help with reading and maths that you will need to work in these trades.
- Have access to mentor support.
- Get inspiration and career choice information.

Be Motorvated Pathways
The industry and work skills you learn on this course will help you to find a job, Modern Apprenticeship or go on to further training within the New Zealand automotive industry.

I want to apply for this course, what do I do now?
You will need to come into our branch for an interview to enrol on this course. To arrange an interview you can:

- click here to register your interest on-line and we will have someone contact you direct.
When you come to your interview you will need to bring these things with you:
- Your Birth Certificate or Passport
- Verification of your bank account number. This can be any one of:
- Your bank statement with your name, address and bank account number on it.
- A verification from your bank, with your name and their stamp on it
- A printed deposit slip with your name and account number on it.
- Evidence of your eligibility, which can be any one of:
- WINZ registration (if applicable), OR
- WINZ Youth Needs referral letter (if applicable), OR
- Workbridge referral letter (if applicable), OR
- Evidence of your enrolment on a previous Youth Training course (if applicable)
- NZQA Record of Learning Number (if you have one)
- Evidence of any credits you have achieved
- School Exemption Letter from Ministry of Education (if you are under 16)
- School Leaving Certificate
- A record of the distance from your home to the course, or a bus ticket for travel from home to course.
