Abouth this Youth Guarantee Motor Industry Skills Course
G&H Training are proud to be part of this government initiative designed for young people who are ready to move on from school but who still want to study and learn practical skills.
Youth Guarantee Motor Industry Skills course is a hands-on course which incorporates entry level knowledge and skills for a variety of automotive trades. It includes practical work based literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
This course is fully funded by the Tertiary Education Commission, so there are no course fees for learners. Because this course is fully funded, you can't get a student loan or allowance from StudyLink while on this course. However, if your family gets Family Support they will continue to get it while you are on course.

Am I eligible?
The Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) set the entry criteria for this course. To be eligible for this course learners need to:
- Be aged 16/17 years
- If you are 15 years old and have a Ministry of Education Exemption you may also be eligible for this course
- Be a citizen of New Zealand, Cook Islands, Tokelau, Niue or Australia or Australian residing in New Zealand.
- International Students are not eligible for this course.

What does this course offer students?
- Practical hands-on learning in our fully equipped workshop.
- All the units in the National Certificate in Motor Industry
(Foundation Skills) (Level 1)
- All the units in the National Certificate in Motor Industry
(Entry Skills) (Level 2)
Your learning will include
- Practical and theory automotive units
- Practical literacy, numeracy and communication skills for work
- Small class numbers
- Work experience with local industry employers*
- Inspiration and career choice information.
*If there are places available AND you have demonstrated you are work ready.
