| What is this? |
Youth
Guarantee Practical Construction Skills course is a hands-on course which
incorporates entry level knowledge and skills for a variety of construction
trades. It includes practical work based literacy, numeracy and
communication skills. |
| Am I eligible? |
The Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) set
the entry criteria for this course. To be eligible for this course
learners need to:

be aged 16/17 years
-
have completed year 11 school
-
have NCEA level 1 or less
-
Be a citizen of New Zealand, Cook Islands,
Tokelau, Niue or Australia or Australia residing in New Zealand.
International Students are not eligible for this course.
-
Not have been enrolled in a tertiary course
before (e.g. at a Private Training Establishment, Polytechnic, University or
Wananga. This does not include STAR/Gateway courses)

Course Information |
This course starts in late February or
early March and finishes in
November. Class times are:
8 am - 3.30 pm Monday to Friday.
You many be able to start this course after
the official start date, depending on available places - however, places on
this are strictly limited and TEC have indicated they expect there will be more people wanting to
do the course than places available.
